Risen Hope

Finding hope in the risen Jesus

About

About Risen Hope

The name is a reference to the hope that we (Christians) have because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. As the apostle Paul clearly states, if Jesus had not risen from the dead, then we are, of all men, most to be pitied (1 Cor. 15:12-19). The purpose of this site is to mainly focus on the topic of the resurrection. While other apologetic topics may be discussed from time to time, the majority of the posts made will be in some way related to the resurrection. The owner and author of this site has a keen interest in this specific area of study and since it is his passion, that is primary focus of this site.

Who am I?

My name is Shawn White and I have had an interest in the topic of the resurrection since the Fall of 2008. It was during that time when I first meet Dr. Michael Licona at an apologetics conference in San Francisco and he spoke on the resurrection. I had a chance to speak briefly with him afterwards and that conversation sparked my interest. Since that time I went back to school and finished my Bachelors in Religious Studies from Southern Evangelical Bible College (distance program). I am currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics at Biola University (also distance program) where I attempt to do as much reading, researching, and writing as I possibly can on the resurrection. In addition to being in school (full-time?), I also started an apologetics ministry in Phoenix, Arizona called Smart Faith. Through that ministry I have had the opportunity to put on a Smart Faith conference each year since 2011 inviting top-national and internal speakers to come and give presentations on a defense of the faith from a variety of topics. I’ve even had Dr. Licona speak one year. Also, as part of the ministry, I have had the opportunity to present a defense of the historical resurrection in a variety of settings (local church, small conferences, and a couple of college universities). I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona with my lovely wife, Davina, and I work full-time as a senior web-application developer for major, international health care insurance provider.
